The Floating Corner home extension

Is it actually magic?!

The floating corner design is one of our most popular Cool Buildings to date. It utilises a beautiful piece of structural engineering work — the cantilever —  which in turn creates the magical, open and pillarless corner you can see in the image below.

The floating corner is a really popular design right now and deservedly so — especially with summer on its way. The cantilever creates the feeling of extreme openness which is the ultimate in the indoor-outdoor design trend.

The steel frame design allows us to push back two elevations of the extension giving you greater access to the outside world with uninterrupted sightlines. No unnecessary pillars or posts obstructing the view of your garden. Seamlessly connecting the roofline into the doors, the cedar soffit will weather over time (although its colour can be kept by regularly applying UV oil), blending and eventually complementing its natural surroundings. How light and sunny does this room look?!

The external lighting creates a subtle evening glow which is perfect for evening entertaining. The addition of corner bi-fold doors offers even more flexibility and allows for the full width of the frame to be opened up. You can read more about choosing the right bi-folds for your project, below.
